For value for money? not a bad choice - but no I am saying stop always comparing things that are not really so easy to compare - It is understood you love IWC and Lange - but you are often comparing things that does not really have comparability - just to make your point

It has got nothing to do with Lange or IWC John. And i can assure you i do not love everything they make.Compairing things is what we all do everyday John.We compare cars-chocalate-woman-coffee machines-and the way food tastes. Are watches so special we cannot compare them? They seem to do it every where else in the world.Or do you have special rules about this in Denmark, that i do not know about? Willy

No but comparin a golf to a ferrari makes little sence. As object no 1 the price when buying should be around the same AND then it does not make sence to me, to say the movement is SO much better without considering, if it will actually live longer, be more precise AND/OR considering the service cost, e.g. being much higher for fine Patek op AP than for 2824/2894 movement.
Say you love fine horologi, that you admire the details and finishing and will pay what it costs, that is VERY fair, but dont justify it by saying it is much better than Omega or Seiko and that this can be proven on thousand of sites, in fact just writing what others have written to show all the great things about their precious watch against the poor neighbors
It is easier with cars as they are generally easy to compare in the same price segment and have relatively the same service cost

Omega and Brietling have been selling basic ETA calibers in their watches for years and telling the public something else.I have got nothing against ETA who have made some great calibers. But i have got something against the bullshit that many watch brands tell the public.I do not make any claims to prefere a high end watch over a low end watch. There are good and bad watches in all watch classes. And once again John i hate watch snobs.I have owned many Omega and Seiko watches. If you remember i wrote a piece on the Seiko MM calling it great value for money etc etc.We have a guy who had 30000 to spend and i gave him my honest opinion without bias to any brand on what i thought was the best value for his money.I can only give advice based on my small knowledge of watches. That you do not like i compare a used Rolex or IWC to a newer Omega or anything else,is your problem not mine.I just try to write about watches John i do not like to comment on the way you think.Could you please learn to do the same. I find it funny that you may write what ever you like, but often complain if people do not agree.
What is it I should learn - always to agree?? Never to have my opinion comparing watches with different price in purchase and service costs - I do not blame you for wanting to compare, but please allow me to have my opinion just as you have yours - and mine is that comparing needs to be on same pricelevel and service cost to really make sense and that it is often done because we have our favourite
and I happen to think, that even though IWC are highly finished, they may not last longer than other 2892 and the service cost is over a standard 2892 - as it is IWC so will have that in mind at least when comparing
I by the way also find it a bit unfair to use own caliber names and not ETA 2824 or 2892 if that is what it basically is. I expect Omega and Breitling would say that they do it because of the many changes made - or that would then be a difficult argument - what is many changes - is it enough to have their own name or the rotor, or would it need to be as much as IWC does to a 2892 to make it acceptable - but basically I agree

I quite like when you disagree with me John. <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: --> And i respect and like that you have your own opinion. And believe me i have no real favourite watch brand at all.I think they all tell lies in their marketing propoganda, also IWC and Lange <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: --> I can agree with what you say about service costs. But it tends to also cost more when you buy quality in this world. At least it makes for intresting reading for many when we debate Willy
