Some times even dealers have their doubts . But they always have a network of other dealers they can ask . Vintage is the most dangerous field for dealers , especially brands like Rolex - Omega - Patek - etc etc .
I often wonder why many dealers just look at a watch for about 10 seconds , and do a deal on it . But i must admit i have done the same . Fakes are getting better and better , do not doubt this . I saw one the other day that was good enough to fool a dealer who sells the same brand of watchs . He had to take the back off the watch to see it was a fake . It was unbelievable . This watch costs around 85000 dkr from new . The detailing on the dial and case was nothing short of fantastic . Be sure of one thing , as watches increase in price the counterfitters will get better . The watch in question was given to him by a rep- of the brand .

PS. I would have bought the bloody watch as the real thing .
