willy Skrev:I think that the tendency with swiss brands is to make their watches more with beauty in mind than practibility.This is in some ways understandable after all a watch is also for many people a ornament for wearing on the wrist.I admit that i have bought many watches for the way they look and not their function.But having owned a few very expensive brand watches i have come to the point that i am tired of wearing watches i am afraid to use in case i get a big sratch or dent on them.Many watches can be classified as works of art and as such are inpractible for daily use.I think most people would agree that you do not need a highly polished finish with sharp edges on a diver watch.A dress watch is different here elegance and beauty are a must.The term coffee bar divers is justified in my opinion to nearly all Swiss dive watches.Nearly all swiss brands are grossly overpriced and use the snob effect to achieve high sales.We all know that the term hand made hand finished are from a bygone era.Nearly all watches made today are made 99% by machines.But the swiss keep telling us about hand finish and superb craft most of this is sales talk and complete bullshit.But it is a fact of life that they will continue this trend for many years to come and sell millions of watches.Much like cosmetic companys sell anti wrinkle chreme that cannot remove one wrinkle.The swiss appeal to our vanity not our pratical side.And because people have so many different facets in their nature this is not a bad thing.
