Interesting watch, Tony Thank You for sharing ! What can You tell us about the watch and maybe the "Ace" series in particular ?

I have seen Citizen "Ace" watches before, but never in this model with the large hands and with this dial.

On the caseback, I noticed the long serial number, the beautiful decoration with a fish and the "Parawater" writing. This must have been one of the very early "water resist" watches from Citizen (?). In those days there was no "m" or "water resist" on the dial. Instead, the models had "exotic" names or ways to lead Your thoughts towards the ocean - very subtle and elegant. Seiko, f.i., had the Sea Horse and Sea Lion models, and I am sure that Citizen had a number of other models with equally "exotic" names. Great watch, Tony

Thank you for your kind, and interesting comments, John. You are correct: this model was one of the very early waterproof "sports" watches made by Citizen. The subtle (and clever) aspect of Citzen's marketing on this particular model was that the fish shown on the case back is known (because of its shape) as a Discus fish. This model was made for a very short period of time – 1961 and 1962, to my knowledge. There were other Citizen Ace models produced over a longer period.

I particularly like the broad arrow hands, which were of course also used on some special models produced by other manufacturers such as the very early UG Polerouters, and the Omega Ranchero.

Great vintage, never seen it before.
Funny, with the decoration on the reverse. A discuss fish - living in the area where Rio Negro runs out into the Amazone, making the water not very clear. Shallow water.

A, for tropical fish lovers, interesting fish, quite difficult to keep. Belongs to the cichlasoma family. Cares for its young, who can actually eat from the side of the parent fishes - from a secretion they produce. Now that has nothing to do with watches, but still, very interesting choice, a freshwater fish picture on the reverse of a watch, must be rare.

Beautiful hands as well, strange that this broad arrow shape which was not so rare around 1960 is not used much on new watches. I love it, but of course there is a big risk, that the tritium will fall out from the big open areas. I suppose it is Tritium or could it be radium?
