did you know that rolex started in london and that in 1914 they made the first wristwatch to be awarded, the official chronometer certifcate.yes rolex have had many firsts in watchmaking.the history and pedigree earns them a place in the top part of watchmakers.when the quartz revolution nearly destroyed the swiss watch industry.rolex still made and sold mechanical watches, and they are nearly alone responsible for keeping the swiss watchmaking industry alive.they loaned money to other brands, and employed makers from the great swiss watch houses.so what ever swiss watch is on your wrist, you owe it to rolex.their steel models are in my opinion the strongest mechanical watches you can buy.the steel they use is maybe the best there is.the calibers are built for great strength and reliability.and the most fantastic thing about rolex in my opinion is that they can mass produce watches in such numbers,800.000 a year.and still do it in a quality that not many factorys can match even if they only produce 10.000 a year.the only two reasons i do not like so much are.one- they have become so ordinary, you see them every bloody where.two -they have not developed or given anything new to the watch industri for a very long time.and when you consider the money and resource, that rolex have that is a scandal.they are just happy to live on past achievemts and make a lot of money.that is why, that in the world of real watchmakers of high standing they are slipping down the list fast.willy
