Kære artsfæller
Jeg er ny bruger i dette forum, men har brugt mange timer på at læse de mange spændende indlæg.
Nu har jeg selv en lidt spejet sag, som jeg håber at I ka' hjælpe med.
For et par måneder siden køber jeg et superflot ref. 1675 fra '68 med pepsi lynette og der sidder en flot "nittet" lænke på uret.
Jeg har købt uret af Gary Sanderson hos Sanderson and son i England og Gary har faktisk været meget serviceminded.
Det viser sig desværre at lænken er et par led for lille og da jeg bor på fyn, ta'r jeg først til Ragnar for at se om han ka' hjælpe med de ekstra led. Godt nok er lænken ikke den der har siddet på uret fra "fødsel" men måske et par år yngre, starten af 70' erne.
Ragnar kan desværre ikke hjælpe og så går turen til Klarlund. Klarlund fortæller at lænken ikke er original og at få ekstra led vil være komplet umuligt. Lidt ked af det, køber jeg så en ny SEL lænke og tænker at Gary må ta' sin uoriginale lænke tilbage igen.
Gary fortæller at han gerne ta'r den retur idet han mener at den er original og desuden har købere til den, han tilbyder samtidig at skaffe de ekstra led så jeg kan bruge uret med den lidt specielle lænke.

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
I haven’t been able to get to Rolex in London as they are only open during the week and I’m only ever there on Saturday’s I’m afraid. All of the trusted dealers I have spoken to said they wouldn’t have battered an eyelid at the bracelet if it had been offered to them for sale – in fact two of them wanted to buy it. One or two of them when scrutinising it were a little concerned about the end pieces - completely happy with the links and also happy with the clasp – just the end pieces which may have been replacements of some kind. If one of the end pieces had become damaged, both would need to be replaced so that they matched. If indeed they have been replaced, it has been done extremely well.
The problem I have noticed with vintage Rolex, particular vintage Rolex bracelets - which are often far rarer than the watches themselves, is that they can be very difficult to completely verify 100% because, unless the person examining the bracelet has plenty of first hand experience of that exact bracelet, he/she won’t be able to be completely certain of its authenticity. In addition, if he/she has never ever seen that particular style of bracelet in their lifetime, it would be very easy to say it was fake because it is simply ‘different’ from what they are used to seeing.
Realistically I don’t think I am going to be able to get a Rolex endorsed comment either way because I live 100 miles away from them and very rarely get into London during the working week. Rolex (at least here in the UK) can be quite funny about putting their stamp of approval on watches or parts unless it has been through their service centre which obviously costs £££.
The other consideration is that Rolex themselves might not want to verify the bracelet as it was made by a 3rd party (as many bracelets were in the past) rather than themselves. Various companies such as Cromwell, Clewco, Gay Ferrers and C + I have all at some time, manufactured bracelets under license from Rolex.
I have the bracelet back now with two links fitted and polished to perfectly match the rest of the bracelet – it looks superb.
In regards to the new SEL bracelet that you purchased, I would very much doubt you would be able to return it and get a refund even if you had an official endorsement for the vintage one from Rolex as the SEL one will have been used. Of course, if your dealer has promised otherwise then please ignore my comment above.
