Nej.
:-)
ægte means the real thing, does it not?

Lever i min egen lille dykkerklokke..

I have heard that Christina Watches have put in a bid for the sponsership of one of the extras in the next Star Wars film. They will be releasing a limited 100,000 watches, with a Darth Vader sticker on the case back of each watch.Christina Hembo used to watch Star Wars as a child, and is therefore historically connected to the film. These great watches with Quartz calibers and lots of diamonds are expected to become collector items. So please order early Icon_smil

Icon_blink
Beklager.

(24-01-2016, 09:32 AM)willy Skrev: Ok Guys its like this.Ian Flemming who wrote Bond wore a Rolex. His hero in the book James Bond wore a Rolex. The reason for this is that Flemming and Bond were both ex Royal Navy.At this time in British History the Royal Navy was the place where M15 recruted most of their operatives.Nearly all top ranking officers in M15 were from the RN.And guess what was the only watch issued to Royal Navy personall.Yes a Rolex!Ian Flemming worked for M15,before becoming a author.

Woew... Woew!

Hold your horses here Willy. Apart from you always being on your toes on this Omega vs Rolex James Bond discussion, please get your facts right. The tone and frequency of your posts in here, makes some think you are serving the only truth, but let me object to this.

I do agree that Ian Fleming wrote in his books that Commander James Bond wore a Rolex Oyster, which was most probably his service watch during his time in the Royal Navy. However, sayibg that Omega never made any watxhes for the British military is a direct lie. Omega delivered 110.000pcs of the famous 30mm wrist watches to the Royal Navy and RAF during WW2... yes, I have seen the signed order from the MoD (Ministry of Defence) at the Omega Museum.

Secondly, I gathe that you occasionally read up on Rolex litterature from the good Mr. James Dokwnling in order to back up all your Rolex knowledge? In this case, please read this article on the Military Watch by Downling:

http://www.timezone.com/2012/07/07/the-m...s-dowling/

And I quote him:

By the late 1960s the Rolex 6538s were starting to show their age, but more importantly technology had moved on, there had been advances in waterproofing (enabling watches to go much deeper) and in movement design (giving increased accuracy and consistency). The early Rolex Submariners had been replaced by Omega Seamaster 300 watches (model 165.024) in the 1960s, these watches were delivered to Omega’s UK importer, Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Ltd, complete with the modifications required by the MoD. The solid strap bars were brazed into place, a circled T was overprinted on the dial and the NATO stock numbers engraved on the caseback (6645-99-923). The hands fitted at the factory, were now ‘Sword’ style, in place of the standard parallel style ones seen on the civilian versions."

And

"So the MoD wanted a watch that was built to their own specification, not one that was modified, and so once again they turned to Rolex, they wanted a watch based on the 5513 but featuring many of the features they had found useful on the Omega. First amongst these were the larger hands which gave much greater visibility, it is interesting to note that the design of all three hands was pretty much identical to those used by Omega. Also similar to Omega’s design was the new Rolex bezel insert, which unlike the civil version, had markers for all 60 minutes."

So now we know why the elusive T-dial Submariners have sword hands and 60-minute marker bezels...

Just writing this to get the facts straight. Ian wrote Rolex, but is could just as well have been Omega if looking at history. Yes - today the Bond movie are filled with product placement from a huge amount of high-end brands. Btw... as a trick question; which is the "real" James Bond car?

When the James Bond franchise started to prepare for the mid-90's Pierce Brosnan movie, the costume designer, Lindy Hemming, was quoted saying:

"I selected the OMEGA Seamaster with the blue dial because I was convinced that Commander Bond, a naval man, a diver, and a discreet gentleman of the world would wear this watch as opposed to the one everyone expected me to use. By the ‘90s, when I began to design GoldenEye, the other brand was everywhere and had become a ‘nouveau riche’ city boy/girl wristwatch,
and was also so much and so well copied that it didn’t have the right class connotations for James Bond."

Of course, you may say this is pure marketing gimmick bla bla bla... But (and I'm NOT trying to bash Rolex here), coming out of the 80's, Rolex did have a slight deucebag/stock broker appeal to it... right?

Anyway, we all have our subjective opinions about this, I try just to enjoy the movies no matter if it's Sean, George, Pierce or Daniel and no matte if its Rolex, Breitling, Seiko or Omega... the last one putting food on the table in my life of course - so I may be biased.

Btw... Going back to the watch Jesper Christensen is donating to a worthy cause, according to some in here, you shouldn't think anything of your new watch, if you have bought a limited edition Omega James Bond watch (which I think is a very arrogant statement to put it mildly), but then at least those not in favor can applaud that the money this auction will bring, at least be put to some good use...

Er faktisk ret sikker på at ref. 6538 Big Crown kun er 38mm

To Issing.Of course Rolex were not the only brand to supply watches to the British military.I was in the military for ca.10 years, and worked together with many branches of this.I was just trying to explain in simple terms that in the Royal Navy Special Boat Service only Rolex were issued at the time of Flemming and Bond.Do not try to assume that what i write is without back ground knowledge.I served with the people who used these watches, you did not.
Rolex built their reputation for reliability and toughness, because Military personal swore by them.No other brand even came close. The only reason they are no longer standard issue to elite units is because of the price.Bond who being a ex navy commander was of course in the book equiped with a Rolex. He did not however have the background from a elite unit. But Rolex watches were to be seen on the wrists of thousands of Royal navy personal, and they were not standard issue. Most were bought in the Far East because they were so much cheaper to buy there for British servicemen.JD is a nice guy who has answered many questions for mr in the past.He can maybe tell you why the Sub is the most well known watch in the Royal Navy.

Please in the future, try to keep to the subject.Your stupid comments about what i mean or do not mean, are out of place in a serious debate.Everyone has a right to their opinions.I always stick to the subject and only comment on out of place remarks like yours.
I would suggest that we do not ruin this debate,or maybe that was what you had in mind?

PS. IWC-Omega-Smiths et etc have all supplied watches for military use.I however saw none of them on the wrists of Royal Navy personal, and none of them were standard issue at the time of Bond.
