Ok Guys its like this.Ian Flemming who wrote Bond wore a Rolex. His hero in the book James Bond wore a Rolex. The reason for this is that Flemming and Bond were both ex Royal Navy.At this time in British History the Royal Navy was the place where M15 recruted most of their operatives.Nearly all top ranking officers in M15 were from the RN.And guess what was the only watch issued to Royal Navy personall.Yes a Rolex!Ian Flemming worked for M15,before becoming a author.

Omega just like IWC with their Top Gun watches, have just used the film to try to promote their watches. Now we all know that Bond films are just harmless fun for the masses. And if the masses want to believe that their hero wears a Omega, that is all down to the Omega marketing department. But one thing they cannot do is rewrite the truth.
I myself was issued with a Sub in the RN.It was the only watch at this time that could take the punishment we put them through.
Rolex would never name a new Moonwatch after a science fiction film. The Moonwatch is the Omega. And the real Bond watch is a Rolex Sub.

...Explorer ref. 1016.

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=120138 Skrev:..Only one brand is specifically named as that secret agent’s watch in Fleming’s original 14 Bond editions: Rolex. The greatest detail comes in his eleventh book, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, published in 1963. Here we read of the “big luminous numerals” that Bond sees when taking a lazy midnight glance at his chronometer, “a heavy Rolex Oyster Perpetual on an expanding metal bracelet.” The watch is a "Rolex Explorer I"...

Lever i min egen lille dykkerklokke..

IMHO not nice.

Apart from all the marketing junk, who the hell needs this Mickey Mouse advertising on a wristwatch?Collectors do not take them seriously.Limited editions of 5000,you must be kidding.Thats about the total production of Lange.IWC have learned their lesson, and have removed the stupid little airplane from their new Top Gun models.I personally would never buy a watch with film connections on the dial. All the actors who played Bond after Connery, have been B film pinn up boys.None of them except Danial Craig, have recieved any critical acclaim for their acting ability. In the good old USA and England Bond fims are at the level of  Walt Disney.History always judges watches after real merit. That is why watches worn or owned by real actors like Steve Mcqueen,or Paul Newman are worth a lot of money today. They were real actors with many awards for their screen preformance. If people who buy these 007 watches think they have something special on their wrist, they should think again. Many people think it rather comical to see people who wear a wrist watch connected to a fim.As you have most probably noticed,i hate these bloody watches Icon_lol Icon_lol Icon_lol
