Just had to get it
#1
Ever since i saw the blue dial Rolex Yachtmaster at a watch meeting , i just could not get it out of my mind . The combination of platinum against a blue dial was a beautifull sight to behold . So when Thomas Chrono had one for sale , i jumped on it . My Chopard LUC had to go unfortunatly , and i know i will miss it . The Chopard is a fantastic looking watch , with a great caliber inside , and is one of the best watches i have ever owned . Anyway back to the Rolex . The polishing details on the yachtmaster are the best i have ever seen on any watch . Just take a look at the polished numbers on the bezel and the edges . Nobody , and i can include Lange or PP can finish a watch case like Rolex . Maybe it is the steel they work with or they have polishing machines that are unique to Rolex .

The YM as got a ridiculous name in my opinion . Who the hell but a idiot with to much money would ever use this watch on a boat . This is a daily wear watch that doubles as a dress watch . And it does it better than any watch out there . It is the right size 40mm , very robust and waterproof to 100m . At the same time it has the refinement and finishing details that match many dress only watches . In other words it is a elegant piece of watchmaking art with a robust basic caliber .
I thought about getting the middle polished links on the bracelet brushed , but have decided against it . This watch is all about how to do bling and sophistication together , so i will not change it . I have considered this watch in the past as a change from the endless Subs and Dwellers , but the washed out platinum dial always put me off . Rolex by changing the colour of the dial have completly transformed the look of this watch .

There are many reviews of the YM so i will not bore you with details . It is a watch that you have to look at in sunlight and electric light , because the effect the light scource gives the dial and the whole watch is well worth a look . Some have said that a Sub is the go anywhere do anything watch . But i have always found the older Subs to be more Tool compaired to the modern models that are polished and priced out of the Tool category . I wanted a beautiful looking watch like the Chopard , because to be honest i am tired of looking at a dull lump of metal on my wrist , no matter how good it is . I have for the most of my life been a follower of the bauhause design in watches , prefering the functional over unnecessary details on a watch . Today i wonder if it is possible to combine the functional with the beautiful . I think the YM is quite close but not perfect . It is not a watch made for rough treatment . I am sure it can take any amount of rough treatment , but it will look like hell on a bracelet afterwards . And you will be using more money in Klarlunds polishing department than the watch cost you in the first place Icon_e_smile It should keep its price very well because demand is higher than supply from Rolex . The combination of platinum and polished steel is not often seen in the watch world . It is a winning combination that makes the YM look even more expensive than it is . It puts any gold watches i have owned in the shade . It is not a discrete watch at all , so expect to get noticed while wearing it . Especially if you flash it in a shop with bright lights . So if you are looking for discretion this is definitely not the watch for you . It is a very very comfortable watch to wear , the case is slightly lower than a Sub with more rounded edges on it . It is not a watch for everyone like the Sub , but i think it has a place in the Rolex line up for anyone who wants something that dares to be different ."http://watchflipr.com/reviews/rolex-yachtmaster-blue-dial-second-generation-116622/">http://watchflipr.com/reviews/rolex-yac ... on-116622/

Til lykke med din nye YM, Willy. Jeg tror platin/stål kombinationen er underrated, og den YM, jeg selv måske har haft i tankerne er helguld med hvid skive. Men $$$ mangler..
