Dette er netop ankommet i dag.

Seiko Spring Drive GMT.

400 parts in any spring drive and the precision is this the most important invention in the watch world for many years?I think so and i wonder how many brands are knocking on the door at seiko for the right to use it in their watches. Willy

I am not sure as such, if I think it is such an advantage with many parts - even an elprimero chronograph has 354 parts I think - and that is not reducing the service price, and now 400 parts without chronograph.
Until I better understand why 400 parts is needed - and the influence on service price (and availability locally) - then I am not sure it in it self is an advantage?
I do believe the spring drive is very interesting technology so I agree with much you say - and I think Seiko will keep the door shut for people wanting that movement for the next few years anyway.

Virkeligt flotte foto Tukjær tak for dem..

Come on john this is the first completly new watch movement since Quartz.A lot of parts for a movement in some watches but not in others.I have read absolutly nothing about any problems with this caliber.Give credit were credit is due Seiko have proved once again that the swiss watch industry have a tendency to fall asleep.I think also it is because the swiss brands do not have the rescources of Seiko.I do not think spring drive is the only new idea that will come from Seiko in the future. It has always been a Swiss problem they are fucking greedy willy

I do give credit and also wrote that - but why 400 parts in it self should be so great is where I (maybe) miss the point.
The technology - Seiko as innovative in this regard - full respect. I would have been happier with fewer parts in a non-chrono and with serviceability locally - but button line - respect for the innovative approach and I do believe it is a great movement.

The spring drive is a unique movement, great technology and as I have understood from tests - very accurate. This may be what qualifies the 400 parts? Anyway - respect for the accuracy also.

I think maybe also the 400 parts will disqualify it from "spilling down" to the lower price-lines of Seiko, which is also an advantage in my eyes - anyway for people spending a lot of money on one of the now.
(you see - I AM trying Icon_e_biggrin )
