I agree with Jacob i would not touch a Diesel engine with a barge pole.Its like playing lotto.The expense of repairing a diesel engine can wipe out everything and more you have saved on fuel.I would take a diesel only under factory garanti and would only buy from makes that give min 5 year garanti.And another good tip if you buy a diesel get a oil pre engine heater put on the car.They take ages on a cold winter day to get warm.Do not as many people do start a cold diesel engine and let it warm up in tickover.This is a good way to fuck up the engine on modern diesels.From what i have read and heard from England garages are really making money repairing diesel cars.
