Nearly everything is done by robots in the Rolex factory.It is a truly
amazing set up,well worth a google.They make over one million
watches a year,out of that amount a certain percentage are steel
sports models.Many have guessed that production numbers for the 
Steel sports models are around the 300.000 mark,nobody knows
for certain.One thing is for sure you cannot just bump up production
at a facility like that,from one day to the next.Quality is what Rolex
live on,and they will never sacrifice that for a short time gain.
Its like saying to Lange,that they must produce more watches because
people want one   They have certain standards and those standards
are the reason their watches are in demand.
Rolex have just started to build a new factory,that should open in about
two years time.
Rolex is a fund,and they do not need to answer to shareholders who
just want more profit.So you just cannot compare Rolex to Omega
or any other brand in the world.They are in a unique position and
other brands cannot emulate this.
Of course they want to keep their products in the exclusive luxury
end of watchmaking.And it would be a stupid move to just step up
production to satisfy demand.Do that and your product is no longer
exclusive.
Rolex-Patek-AP-VC have been manipulating the watch market for years
and they will continue to do so in the future,its all about supply and
demand.They have a good thing going,so why scew it up for a few
watch nerds who complain they cannot get a certain watch.

We all know that there are millions of Rolex watches in the world
today,and some can argue about, how exclusive they really are.
The fact is that in the eyes of most of the watch buying public,
Rolex is a very very prestige product indeed.Porsche have made
millions of their cars,but you still do not see them on every street
corner.
One thing is for sure,Rolex will never ever lower the standards they
have for making their watches,and i for one am very pleased about
that.
