The modern version of D&S was started in 1995 when Cinette Robert bought
the brand.She had been collecting retired mechanical calibers from brands
who went out of business.She restored and used these calibers in many
D&S watches.
                 Before she took D&S over the brand that started in 1946 had
a great reputation for restoring old movements.
                 You get fantastic value in these watches,and you get calibers
that we will never see the like of again.I have always considered them to
be grossly underpriced in the used watch market.I think this is due to the
fact of ignorance about them by most watch people.
                                The original company produced many great watches
and were held in high esteem in the industry,and Cinette carried on with
this tradition.So i would say that anyone who buys one of these watches
today is getting one of the best bargains in the watch industry
PS.She started out with a collection of about 6,000 movements,and i would
guess most of them are used up by now,so worth checking your watch
to see what is inside it.Am not sure where they get their calibers from
today.Many of the early watches have also heavily modified ETA calibers
inside.
