JLC have indeed been called the watchmakers watch.And they have a history of 
making watch calibers,that is unmatched by anyone in the watch industry.
             But they have no longer this position in the industry today.They through
no fault of their own,have been virtually forced to make more watches and make
more profit since they were taken over by Richemont.They are no longer the brand
that supplied calibers to many of the greatest swiss watch brands.
                  
                      They still make some good watches,but their calibers are not 
leading the field,like they used to.They are not really high end compared to say
Patek-Lange-VC-AP etc etc.Their finishing is good but it is not really what most
would call high end.You have to be careful what you buy from them,many
of their calibers are hopelessly out of date,and with low power reserves.
                      Richemont have screwed up one of the worlds greatest brands
in my humble opinion.I will always have a weak spot for their older models,
and they are a brand i have always have had the greatest respect for.

                     Today the used prices of their watches,is a true reflection of 
where they are today,and it is sad to see.
                  They are in my opinion in a kind of no mans land.They are not
high end or low end.They are somewhere in between,and they cannot compete
with other brands in this sector in my opinion.These other brands offer newer
calibers and the same ,if not better finishing for a much lower price.
                    I have tried a few of their models from the last 10-15 years and
to say i am not impressed would be an understatement.
