Walt Odets-Carlos Perez-William Massena were some of the best watch writers
in the world.William Massena who was a no holds bar writer,got bought out
when Antiquorum purchased Time Zone,so that they could control what was written.
And who did they put in charge of TZ? You guessed maybe Mr. William Massena,who
proceeded to get rid of the critical voices on TZ.And he turned it into what it is today,
a organ that is firmly in the power of watch brands.This is often how the watch industry
swallows people who are to hard on their watches.The problem is that they all rely on
one another to much.The industry needs the writers to promote their watches and the
writers need the industry to create their income.So the fact is that you will find it very
hard,or nearly impossible to find a honest review of a watch or a brand today.
Reading many of the reviews on Hodinkee-Blogg to watch-Fratellow-etc etc makes
me laugh out loud.They are more concerned with not offending anyone,than writing
a no holds barred review.The Navy seals JLC review from a Blogg to watch is typical
of the please do not take offence journalism i mean.And why the hell do they not
wear these watches for at least a month before spitting out a review that thousands
of people will read like the Gospel.I tried this watch for a month,before voicing a
opinion on it.I was prepared to forgive the dubious connection to the Seals and the
ridiculous power reserve from the tiny caliber,because i really did like the look of
this watch.It was different to the other divers out there.But in everyday use i found
it to be one of the worst watches i have ever worn.I felt cheated and disappointed
in a brand that i had worshipped all my life.
                        I dived a bit in my young days in the English Military,so i looked
at the JLC in that context,even though i bought the watch because i thought it looked
good  The compressor crowns are a joke,far to fiddly to use for serious diving.
The strap began to fray within a couple of weeks use.The lume was a joke,even
after shining a light on it for 10 minutes it did not last long.The bezel moved if
the wind blew on it.It just did not feel solid or robust enough.And this was a watch
they were marketing as being tested for use in a elite military unit! To say i was 
disappointed would be a understatement.I exchanged the watch as quick as i 
could.And then i did something i am ashamed of.Instead of writing on this blog
and voicing my opinions of this watch,i kept quiet because i knew that the dealer
here in Denmark had to sell this watch on to someone else.At this time many people
read my reviews on this blog,and i did not want to make it difficult for my dealer
friend to sell it on.Since this unfortunate incident,i promised myself never to repeat
this mistake.The dealer is a good friend of mine,who i respect very much,and he
also told me never to do it again,because he could sell the watch anyway.
                    It is easy to understand just how hard it can be for a watch writer
to write a honest review today.I tend to read more opinions on different watch
blogs from the readers who have bought and tried the watches.Many of them
are very knowledgeable on the watches they collect and use.
And i think that it is always a good idea to read many opinions before buying
a watch costing a lot of money.
