Godt du havde en "god oplevelse" med at få spottet dit ur af en fremmed. Det sker jo ikke så tit og vi urtosser er jo stadig en minoritet.

Never make presumptions about other watch wearers, we frequent forums like this & assume that there are tons of watchnuts out there.
WRONG, we are not even a 'blip' on the radar screen. Most of the civilians out there give as much thought to their watch as they do to the brand of laundry detergent their wife buys.
Only twice in my life have I attempted conversations with other guys about their watches in civilian situations, one in a lift in an NYC hotel; most people get off leaving me & another guy, I notice he is wearing a Red Sub; so I say 'nice watch, had it from new?'; he turns, looks at me and says "I'm not gay", pressed a button for a floor lower than the one he had initially pressed and then got off. I was (at the time) lost for words & ever since then have been trying to think what would have been the correct response. It was such a non-sequiter that something such as "I have a tadpole named Charly" would have left him as confused as I felt.
On the other occasion I was waiting to board a flight in Syracuse or Albany (I don't remember which one, but it was when the NAWCC had a National there, more than a decade ago) I saw the guy in front of me wearing an old Navitimer; I assumed that he had also come from the NAWCC show, so I complimented him on the watch and asked if I might look at it & he replied "Go away, or I will call the cops".
So, guess who NEVER talks to anyone about their watches, unless I know them to be watchnuts?

Det er gået næsten 20 år siden jeg læste ovenstående første gang, og jeg smiler altid når jeg bemærker et ur på et fremmed håndled :)
Ure er blevet mere hipt siden James skrev ovenstående , og flere er bevidste, vidende og stolte vedr deres urvalg, og dog kommenterer jeg aldrig de flotte ure jeg ser rundt omkring.
Jeg ville dog gøre det hvis jeg så noget helt unikt; UG Cairelli, mil-sub, Heuer J. Rindt, bedre vintage osv. Modeller som "man" ikke bare gå med uden at man har en virkelig interesse. Men det er indtil videre aldrig sket desværre.
Vi mødes virtuelt på fora 24-7 men kan ikke genkende hinanden når vores veje krydses i den virkelige verden :(
