Well, your comment above is not really sticking to the subject. So if that would have been left out, I wouldn't have to comment on it.

BTW... There are a lot of watch collectors out there who like these watches and buys them for sheer fun. And there are a lot who don't like them... which are more right?

My above comment just proved that Omega (amongst others) always have been (and still are as Omega deliveres Planet Ocean watches to the SAS) closely linked to the British Military... but granted that you've served and know eveything, I guess your simple version is more truthful.

BTW... Do get just as pissed when you see Bond driving around in his Aston Martins, when Fleming actually portrayed him as driving Bentley?

PPS: the discussion started on Peterkaa linking to a story about a watch from the Bond film being donate for a good cause and the question on the Bond vilian watches... but who took this debate in the wrong direction?

Peterkaa called it the real Bond watch.And i was not the only one who took issue with this description.I worked together with SAS Issing In Malaysia we were trying to stop terrorists sent from Indonesia.Google this if you like.And because i have served does not mean i know everything,that is a stupid comment to make.Your knowledge about the type of watches we used is just second hand.We used to sit in bars in Borneo and throw our Subs at the walls,just to see how tough they really were.Rolex are a legend for British military personal in a way that no other watch comes close to.Since this time they have used many brands watches,but none of them reached the hights of Rolex.What you and others who believe all the marketing junk is irrelevant to me.Same kind of people who think Rocky balboa is a great film about boxing,and that soldiers like Stallone portrays in his films are real.Marketing is a wonderfull thing,when a second rate actor could revive a forgotten brand like Panerai.People however tend to forget that all of the original Pam watches were built by Rolex
                                   You are just falling into the same old marketing bullshit,that has absolutly nothing to do with reallity.The debate about Rolex verses Omega has been raging for years and years.I think it is a bit of a joke.Both are in their way great brands,who have given a lot to watchmaking.But only a Omega fanatic would dare to argue that they make a more reliable watch than Rolex,or that they have the right to call their watches genuine or real Bond watches.It would be more truthfull to call them Bond film watches.Just like IWC is a Top Gun film watch.I just have something against people who try to rewrite history,to fit their marketing plans.Ever seen a film called Wag The Dog?
