I agree Kurt. Rarity is a word i meant in the context of the number of Pateks and Langes on the used market in the future.Sorry i did not make that more clear.Do not worry about documentation, everyone who likes watches, knows about you.If your name was Willy,it would be different
Apart from that i agree with everything you have written here.It is a jungle out there, and even so called experts get fooled now and again.Just a little question for you Kurt.Patek do not make many Steel models of some of their models, and these models get higher prices at auctions compaired to gold or platinum models of the same watch.Would you not say that rarity plays a part here? The Rolex Milgause was not a popular watch with the buying public, therefore Rolex did not make many of them.Look at the prices for Milgause today.Like wise Comex or red subs.In the absolute Vintage section rarity or low production numbers might not mean so much.
All brands use limited editions to try to bump up the used prices of their watches. Its a game they all play.Panerai-AP-Patek-Lange-VC the list can go on for ever. They want the public to rush out and buy these watches. They are using rarity to sell watches, nothing more or less. And it works on a non critical watch public. In the old days they did not use this method in the numbers they use today. There was a case recently, that was written about on Hodinkee, where some of the leading Rolex Experts world wide, could not agrre on the authenticity of a watch. So it is good to see you writing about it.
