I would completly scrap this stupid piece of law making.And give a minimum of 6 months in prison for carrying anything that has the character of a weapon in any public areas.
                                                People who are using knives while practising a hobby,or in the course of their work i would make exempt.So called law abiding citizens,do not need to carry a weapon.And i would leave the decisions on who to prosecute for breaking these laws,up to the police.I often criticise the police,but i never forget that they need the backing of tough laws to help them do a hard job.Making laws that they cannot enforce,loses them respect.I cannot imagine a policeman stopping an old lady,and finding a knitting needle in her handbag,and then arresting her on the spot.Common sense is alive and kicking,also with the police.
