Nothing about the IWC 7750 is normal; they rebuild the caliber to such an extent they can call it their own. It is far superior to any ETA caliber you can name.
The Piquet caliber is in no way more exclusive.

IWC’s Use of the ETA-Valjoux Chronograph Movements (Kilde:IWC Collectors Forum)

Betragter man imidlertid:
# Omega kaliber 3313.(Kilde: OmegaRolex.com), og
# IWC kaliber 790 (Valjoux 7750)(Kilde: Ranfft caliber guide),

3) "The Piquet caliber is in no way more exclusive" Icon_question Icon_question Icon_question Icon_question Icon_question

Citat:
Omega as far as i know had nothing to do with building the FP caliber .It was delivered to them finished . The workmanship of IWC was at that time in history second to none , even JLC calibers were better finished by IWC . So i do not believe that FP delivered superbly finished calibers to watches in the speedmaster class . It may have been a collum Wheel caliber , but that is all it as over the IWC . The finishing and workmanship of the IWC caliber was in a different class . It is only recently that Omega have claimed to build their own calibers . And it is a fact that in the past any Omega caliber you can name , was built out of house . ETA and Omega are the same bloody firm Torben . So no more fairy stories about FP supplying top notch calibers to a brand that was in the lower luxury market at that time . And they were selling them at give away prices Icon_e_smile Collum Wheel is considered to be finer amongst many watch enthusiasts . But i would rather have a finer finished caliber anytime . The Speedy is a great watch and a bargain for the money , but i have never read anything about the fine finish of the calibers . As far as i know the finish was good for a watch in that price range , but not exceptional . By the way are you not compairing a modern co- axial caliber with a modern IWC ? Because IWC do make a inhouse chronograph , and unlike Omega they build it themselves . I prefere to compaire the original Speedy FP calibers with the IWC calibers made at the same time . I like both brands , but have to rate IWC higher in terms of workmanship and finish .
