John i can see you point , and agree with some of it . But it is also a fact that newcomers to the world of riches do tend to flaunt their wealth in a way that someone born into it would never do . Hence the term Nouvea Riche . It is something that most grow out of with time . It is natural for someone with a poor background to want to show that they have made it by buying a flash watch or car . Taste is a funny thing to try to pin down . And the world would be a poor place and a boring place if we all had the same taste . We are used to wealth in our part of the world and the puritain way of looking at it based on our religious cultures . And as you say it is so different to many other parts of the world , where bling does not exist as a term that is used . But background and the type of goods you buy for your money , go hand in hand in our neck of the woods .
