hannover_dk Skrev:We once sat in a bar in Borneo for three days drinking, and sleeping with girls in the back room . We used to throw our Rolex Subs all over the place to see if they could break . We even used to put them in our beer glasses and leave in the glass while we were drinking . The punishment we gave our watches was unbelievable . I know it was crazy thinking back on it , but when you have been on patrol for a month without a break you tend to get a little mad especially after two years of it bjoernbertelsen Skrev:du har nok ikke mødt så mange engelske soldater bjørn willy Skrev:When i was in the Military we used to throw our Subs on the floor sometimes , just to demonstate how strong they were .

I can in all honesty say that i have never ever seen or heard of any mechanical watch that can take the same punishment a Rolex can . And when i think about it ,that is why they have such a world wide reputation . Usually reputations start with watches being used by professional people in their work and then catch on with the general public . I would guess that at the time i was in the military over 50% had a Rolex Oyster or Sub when serving in the Far East . They were also a lot cheaper in Singapore or Hong Kong at that time , and military personal could buy them on credit .
Rolex world wide reputation for making indestuctable watches was gained by their use in Military forces around the world , and especially the English Marine . Some personal were issued with Rolex Subs . You have to remember that in the fiftys-sixtys and seventys we did not have G.Shocks or other Quartz tool watches . So most proffesional military personal . Divers , Mountain climbers etc etc , used Rolex watches . There were a few other brands that were used as well . But most proffesionals used Rolex at this time .
Today of course that picture has changed . A modern G. Shock can take the kind of punishment no mechanical watch ever can .
But a Rolex is in my opinion still the greatest tool watch in this world , because you do not ever have to worry about the battery running down .
In fact if you were stranded on a desert island for 20 years i would bet a Rolex is the best watch you could have with you . Fuck i hate writing so many nice things about certain watches , people will think i am going soft in the head But credit must be given where credit is due .
