Panerai are not in my opinion in the same class as Rolex . The build quality of a Rolex is superb , and they make what many experts consider to be the strongest caliber sitting in any mechanical watch in the world . In other words Rolex are a legend .

But they are not what you call high end watches like Lange or Patek . High end brands make very sophisticated and highly finished watches and calibers . But these type of watches are not usually so robust and they do not take kindly to hard treatment .

A Panerai or Rolex is a good everyday watch that can take rough treatment and keep a good used price .

It all depends what you want the watch for . Everyday use or dress ? Some watches can be used for everyday and dress .

With your budget i would be looking at AP - JLC - IWC - but that is just my taste .

Before you buy your watch ask on this site about the models you should or should not buy . You will get a lot of good advice that could save you a lot of money .

If you buy a Panerai remember that there are so many models you can chose , advice from the Pam site on this blogg will really help you .

And many will tell you to buy a used watch . I personally would never throw money down the drain by buying new . You will get a better watch for the same money on your budget compaired to buying a new watch .
