Inspired by Joepetes recent review of the Rolex Deep Sea V the Seiko Marinemaster . I feel it is time to give a pat on the back to the Danish watch world . As most of you know i read a lot of watch sites from all around the world , and have done so for many years . So i would like to make a comparison between this site and many international sites .
Maybe this will supprise you , but i think this site can in many ways be considered to be better than the majority of other watch sites i read . My reasons for coming to this conclusion are many , but i will tell you a few of them .
Danish people have a tendency to go more into detail when reviewing a watch or a car etc etc . I can see this when i compare watch or car reviews in the English or Danish media . The German and Danish media have a lot in common in this sense i think .
Up to around 10 years ago there were many more serious watch sites in the world where watches were virtually taken apart when they were reviewed . And great watchmakers and critics with real expertise made their judgements on the quality of a watch . This seems to be disapearing more and more today . Many reviews just look at the design , casework , bracelet and write a short description of the caliber .
On this site alone there are so many specialists with knowledge of Vintage and modern watches , that there are not many questions they cannot answer . And i admire and i learn all the time i am on this site . In fact i read less and less on other watch sites .
If i can make one tiny criticism to end with , it is this . I think we need more people willing to write about their watches or opinions on other subjects concerning watches on the main site . Its ok to have special sites for Rolex Omega Pam etc etc . But we need more debate on the main site , because this is what really makes a watch site intresting to the public . And new watch people will keep visiting a site with activity and critical debate . And this will benifit us all buyers and sellers alike . We may not be the biggest site in the world , but we could become the best
