I have owned a GP watch once before in my life . A gyromatic i bought in Holland about 15 years ago . I have read about GP watches for years but never really thought about buying one because they are not the easiest watch to sell again . But recently i did a deal with Bjarne- My Watch for a GP Sea Hawk 42 mm Ruthenium grey dial . And to be honest i have recieved a bit of a shock . This watch has learnt me a valuble lesson for the future . The new price of this watch is ca. 55000 kr I paid 23000 kr for a watch that is like new with B&P and is 3 years of age . The shock is that you can buy a watch of this quality for that kind of money .
In recent years i have been concentrating on buying watches that kept the price and could easily be sold again . This watch has changed my way of thinking for the future . This watch is in a different class than most watches i have owned except for Lange & Patek . And they do not build Dive watches . Lets face it Patek & Rolex have been manipulating the used watch market for years , with great success i must say . But nearly all other luxury or high end brands lose just as much as GP on the new prices .
One thing is for sure the GP Seahawk is a class above most divers out there , including nearly every brand you can think of . If we are talking value for money , then a used GP is most probably the best value for money watch you can buy today in my opinion . And remember everything is true inhouse from one of the greatest swiss watch brands . I will not name the brands or watches that the GP beats hands down , because if i do this will just turn into a dog fight . But in a recent comprehensive test in a German watch magazine of 15 of the worlds top dive watches , the Seahawk Pro 46mm beat all of them . And think you can buy one for half of the new price
