Nice to see an attempt to put watches into categorys . I think you can do this to a certain extent , but sometimes because of branding some watches are in the wrong category . In the minds of most non watch freaks , a Rolex is not a ordinary watch . But it is a ordinary watch in the eyes of many collectors and watch people . But what the general public think or know about watches is a level i passed a long time ago . People are manipulated by lies and half truths put out by watch brands . And i think nearly all brands do this , and that it is quite normal in the world we live in . The reason i am on this forum is to try to see beyond the lies and branding bullshit . And to learn to judge watches for what they really are . I do not believe one single word that i hear from any watch brand until i have read that other people not connected with them , have confirmed it to be true or a lie . I realise that we cannot do this 100% but trying to catch them out is fun . If you think about how many watches are sold world wide , it is amazing we do not have a proffesional body that could take these watches apart and rate them . A bit like a FDM that tests watches instead of cars . I think that if some one started a truly independent watch test site , many brands would go bankrupt . There are a few sites and magazines that try to test watches , but most of it is just skimming the surface . In the mean time i will just keep reading all i can about watches and make my own judgments of them . Willy
