China-crap eller Far East High End... ?

Very intresting John.I do not doubt their ability to eventually make mechanical watches that are up there with the best offerings from the Swiss.But Seiko have been doing this for years with their Grand Seiko Models.And the biggest problem they will face will not be the quality but the branding.If Seiko had taken a leaf out of the car business and copied Toyoto,who by branding their luxury car division Lexus captured a big part of that market.Then maybe the Grand Seiko would get the recognition it deserves with watch buyers.I think the Chinese will face the same problems in the west.If i was them i would buy more Swiss watch brands and over a period put their ideas -skills-traditions and work disipline into these brands.And anyway China will only be rich for as long as the good old USA allows them to be <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: --> Just wait untill they pump money into India,who are the next economy USA will support.Japan Germany everyone thought about them as they do now about China.They are all controlled by the good old USA. <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: --> <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: --> Willy
