No you are not alone, but there will still be many with other opinions - hard as it is to understand.

Why is it some on this forum feels so inclined to always naming favourite brand by at the same time talking down to other brands?

IWC - JLC and Rolex can rarely be mentioned without talking down to AP, PATEK, Omega, Tag or whatever, either from some who just think they know it all, or from some, who probably know, but look down on all others, by stating frankly that they know more than anybody else and referring to - everybody says as I - without showing that to be true .

I would not dare say to someone buying Omega CoAxial or 8500 would get something inferior to IWC Aquatimer with 2892 - very nicely upgraded, and I would never dare - without a lot of criteria, to name IWC as one of the worlds 4 top-brands over all time. I would however have no problem calling it a very good brand - on of the better.

Is it so hard just to say what you like about a watch - preferably to me explaining why - but not necessarily by always involving other brands - unless someone asks for it.

I think it is good to compare when:

It is a review where the author goes into details with why he thinks as he does, naming many different features against each other
or - if someone asks for direct advice, is xxx better than xxx?

Otherwise I fail to see what you people gain, other than maybe getting your will in expressing things about your favourite brand putting other brands down - brands which other people may be happy with.

I am sure the best watches you can buy - using value for money, are new with ETA 2824 at a price of 2.500 dkk - but I do not buy such watches my self buy - and I would never argue the good reasons for buying such a complication IWC, an Omega CoAxial, a Rolex, a JLC, a Patek, a TagHeuer or a cheap micro-brand - if that is where the heart and money has lead him.
