Some refer to Jules Verne (Julens venner in Danish) and his fantasies - which had a lot of reality in it.

He told about the crossing of the north pole under water in a submarine. I think in reality, if you look under the pole, you will find a lot of submarines stranded. They followed the compasses. It was not until a clever captain ordered a crew member to stand in the front of the submarine with his arm stretched out, pointing in the direction they should go, before he dived down - it worked. He ignored the compass, and just sailed the way the sailor was pointing.
