Description: The world's first wristwatch calibre with analogue display, the 1300 Beta 21 was developed in Neuchâtel under the direction of Roger Wellinger, director of the Centre for Electronic Watchmaking, a joint laboratory of the Swiss watchmaking industry, of which OMEGA is one of the main partners. It would be launched in 1969 under the name 1300 Beta 21 and the first commercial models using the movement would appear at the 1970 Basel Watch Fair under 15 different brand names. Apart from a few minor adaptations, the calibre 1300 used in the Electroquartz is the same as the Beta 21. With its derivatives 1301 and 1302, 14 000 units would be manufactured in total."
