The corruption eating watch bloggs

Many of the watch sites i visit have been corrupted by the watch industry . What i mean is this . You take a up and coming watch site that
starts by being very honest and critical when debating watches . This site builds up a reputation and builds a very large user base of visitors
to the site . The industry begins to take notice , especially when their watches get bad reviews that are seen by thousands of would be buyers .

What can they do to stop this ? Well they could buy the whole site , and get rid off all the critical journalists.
This is by the way what Antiquorium did when they took over TIME ZONE . And it worked , like the song says . Where have all the watchmaker
journalists gone . Time Zone is a very civilised site today without any critical journalists , and it is very very boring .

Step number 2 . They start to invite the owner of the site to a few visits to the factory . With of course
free dinners and maybe the possibility to buy a limited watch at a special price etc etc . It takes a lot of moral courage to resist the temptation
watch brands can offer these people .

Hodinkee and especially Benjamin Clymer were one of my favorite sites to visit for a long time . He was an outstanding watch reviewer , who pulled no punches when talking about watches . Today i think he is a disgrace to watch critics everywhere .
And a classic example of all that is rotten in the watch industry . You might be thinking he could sue me for saying this , i can tell you he
would not dare . Because he knows it is true , and it can be proved . He has turned a watch site that was respected by watch people
all over the world , into one of the most obvious selling sites ever seen . You do not believe me ? Just read the old Hodinkee and compair to
the present version . The problem with these sites is that you cannot ever ever believe what you are reading . And for me this is problem
that is becoming more common than i would like it to be . Selling sites like Hodinkee are corrupt . They can protest and scream like children
protecting their sweets . But anyone with more than the intellectual level of a Banana must know it is true . You cannot really believe a persons
written opinion about a watch he is selling on the same site . Or are you a Banana ?

Jeg er ingen banan og kan sagtens se at Hodinkee er hyper halleluja wow positiv i både deres anmeldelser af specifikke ure og i deres ærbødighed og ærefrygt for producentens ur historie og prestigefyldte status.

Ben C. har jo nok fået mulighed for at leve det søde liv med store $ fees, VIP behandling med champagne i alle watch boutiques og transatlantiske fly på 1. klasse til 5-stjernet hotel i Gstaad med urgaver til anmeldelser og exceptionelle rabatter på de dyreste modeller.

Det samme ses i medicinalindustrien, hvor læger konstant inviteres til luksuskonferencer med 5 stjernet forplejning.

Den kritiske journalistisk indenfor filmbranchen er langt mere robust overfor korruption.

Skeer slet ikke mere. Medicinalindustrien er meget bange om evt. påstande om korruption & skandaler og alle kongresser etc. betales af lægerne selv i dag. Derved ikke sagt ad m-industrien er OK, metoderne er bare mere sofistikerede i dag end for 20 år siden.
Hodinkee vil nok ikke behandler sager hvor de ikke har noget positivt at sige, ellers var det ud af vagten. Sådan er reglerne for pæn opførsel... men jeg kan være i nu og næ enig med dig, Willy. Der mangler lidt kant...

Its always a good thing to remind someone . That everything
they read about watches is not always true . The kant or edge does not matter so much in that context . Keep it simple is my motto .

Any watch reviewer can be assessed based on 3 simple criteria - defined by Aristotle, the founder father of classic rhetoric, the art of persuasive communication.

1. Ethos.

Is the watch reviewer credible, sincere, trustworthy, genuinely concerned with the best interests of the audience and morally virtuous? Or is the watch reviewer promoting personal interests, a hidden agenda, commercial interests or manipulating the truth with self-serving biases?

2. Logos.

Is the watch reviewer knowledgeable, a subject matter expert on watches or a banana?

3. Pathos.

Is the watch reviewer genuinely passionate about watches or is it about business and cool cash?
