Absolutely, and there's engineering and then there's over-engineering :-). I partly get your point - it's just that if I would look down on my wrist at the Eichi, I would still think of a Ole Mathiesen watch and not really be able to appriciate the finish (nor the design) - unless I took it off, turned it over and put it under a microscope ;-).

Hele pointen og noget der typisk går igen med Japanske produkter i ekstrem høj kvalitet,
er netop at du ikke kan/skal kunne se produktets fantatiske kvalitet/håndværk.

Det kræver en indsats for bedre at forstå hvad man kigger på ud over (her) hvad der ligner et simpelt ur i Bauhaus stil,
falder man for denne produktions tilgang er fordelen at man typisk har meget loyale kunder,
ulempen er at man kan have sværere ved at tiltrække nye i tilstrækkeligt højt tempo til at gøre produktet til en god forretning.

Et godt eksempel er da Toyota skabte luksus mærket Lexus startende med et helt blankt stykke papir.  
Et andet godt eksempel er deres tilgang til mad her tænker jeg især på Sushi, selv er jeg ikke fan af det men jeg kan sagtens se pris på deres tilgang.

Han har 3 Michelin stjerner (en standard mange går meget op i) ud at lave noget stort ud af det,
han har dem fordi han er sindssyg dygtig og han beviser det "stille" ved at det hele forgår roligt/kontrolleret = overskud,
han behøver ikke og har ikke et behov for at råbe og skrige mens der svares ja tak.

det er høj underspillet klasse og det har jeg som ikke sushi fan dyb respekt for.
