Citat:I do not believe anyone will stigmatize Montblanc, after all Lamborghini used to build tractors Icon_smil .Because you have not seen one in the wild, does not mean much. You are right about some so called collectors not buying them.I prefere not to call them real collectors,i prefere the word Sheep. Icon_lol Icon_lol MB have a good reputation, and they are taking their step into the watch market very seriously.I do not know if they will succeed, but it is a bit early to start to write them off.
Lamborghini and Montblanc are not comparable in my opinion....Even though Lambo did (and still does) produce tractors – We’re talking two entirely different segments (Supercars/Tractors). MontBlanc is a luxury brand in the pen business, trying to breach into another luxury business (luxury pens/luxury watches)… No doubt they are doing some nice watches in the high-end segment, but I would still choose an AP or a VC over a high-end Mont-Blanc any day of the week. But that’s mainly because I like to be able to sell of my watches fairly quickly if I need to. Montblanc is not an easy sell.
You might not think that ANYONE will stigmatize MB for being a Pen producer – But I can tell you that some people do, just as some people stigmatize Cartier for being a jewelry producer (even though they are also making AMAZING watches)
And although I have MASSIVE respect for some of MB’s high-end pieces I personally could only see myself wearing one of the gorgeous 1858 Villeret Chrono’s with the Minerva movements and monopushers… But in that pricerange, there are just SO many other interesting watches I’d rather have.

I have already written the same about MB contra other high end brands

Cartier are stigmatized, but usually by people who do not know much about them.I know MB have a uphill fight to reach the top,but they are a brand that have a reputation for very high quality. And i think this will help them, because i do not doubt they are intent on becoming a top player. And i would also chose a VC or AP over them at this time.Sometimes we have to give opinions about the future, and i predict a bright future for MB.
Just saw this.Amazing the amount of new watches MB are pumping out.I do not like this one.
