Glashütte Original scores success with “Golden Balance” 2015
On February 26, 2015, the winners of the 18th edition of the "Golden Balance" awards, one of the most prestigious of the watch industry's audience prizes, were announced. Readers of UHREN-MAGAZIN, Watchtime.net, Focus and Focus Online were asked to name their favourites in five categories. All three of the watches submitted by Glashütte Original qualified for the final round of 10 in their categories, and the end result was a great success.
In Category C (watches priced up to 10,000 Euros) the PanoReserve was the winner and was awarded the “Golden Balance” for 2015. The Senator Chronograph Panorama Date earned third place in Category E (watches priced over 25,000 Euros). The Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date took 7th place in Category D (up to 25,000 Euros).

The festive awards ceremony took place this year on the 26th of February at the Kutchiin in Munich. Glashütte Original VP Marketing Christina Hentschel and PR Manager Michael Hammer were delighted to accept the coveted awards on behalf of all employees of the Saxon watchmaker. The “Golden Balance” enjoys considerable esteem at Glashütte Original due to the fact that the prize winners are chosen not by a jury but in a public election in which the voters are fans and connoisseurs of fine mechanical watches.
Altogether 351 watches from all the main watchmakers were submitted to the contest in the five categories. Since November of last year 20,846 readers submitted their votes.

Just as all models of Glashütte Originals’ Pano collection, the PanoReserve is characterized by the typical asymmetric design of the dial. The areas for hour/minute indicators and the small seconds display lie on a vertical axis within the left half of the dial, while the Panorama Date and the power reserve display are positioned at the lower and upper right, respectively. The placement of the individual displays was inspired by the “Golden Ratio” – the legendary law of aesthetic harmony.
The award winning model at the “Golden Balance” 2015 presents itself in a polished and satin brushed stainless steel case, with a warm silver dial and blued steel hands for the display of hour, minute, small second and the power reserve. For improved legibility in the dark the hour and minute hands are covered with luminous material.
PanoReserve
The heart of the PanoReserve is the manually wound 48-jewel Calibre 65-01 with a power reserve of 42 hours. Chief among the attractions visible through the sapphire case back are the duplex swan-neck fine adjustment – developed by Glashütte Original – which is positioned on the hand-engraved balance bridge. Further traditional elements of the art of watchmaking in Glashütte are also clearly visible: the Glashütte three-quarter plate with stripe finish, polished steel parts, the screw balance, screw-mounted gold chatons and blued screws. The presented version of the PanoReserve is outfitted with a black Louisiana Alligator leather strap.
