Please note that I have now updated this post.
I am guessing most of you saw the silly reductions in my last sales post for the Omega Co-Axial Chronograph? It was a little embarrassing to say the least, but there was a reasoning behind it. This Omega formed part of my collection but I was forced to sell it quickly as I had a large credit card bill to pay via a paypal payment I made for a watch over on Timezone's Sales Corner on the 3rd of March. I paid for the watch but got something far less interesting in the mail instead.
I spotted a sales post for a Heuer Bund Chronograph. I had always wanted one and when one came up on Timezone at a fair price, I thought I would go for it. The seller was Marco Schmitz and he is based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Here is the link to the sales post for the Heuer Bund Chronograph watch:

You will note that this sales post was deleted by a forum moderator. More on this in a moment.
Marco Schmitz's user name on Timezone is montrepassion. This is also his name on photobucket and it appears to me that he is a member here too:

Even though I have many years of watch collecting experience behind me, I was a little apprehensive dealing with this seller. This is why.
Without me actually agreeing a price (based on our emails), his sales post on Timezone Sales Corner suddenly disappeared (as I stated previously). He stated that the sales post was deleted by a forum moderator because he had sold the watch, even though I knew that moderators do not delete posts based on a sale. Moderators only delete a post because the required information is not actually within the sales post, as per their selling guidelines.
After several emails, we had not agreed on a price.
As I now had no access to the sales post information nor any photo's of the watch prior to making a purchase, I decided to do my homework on him prior to making my paypal payment.
For example, the price we had agreed on was a little lower than I had anticipated and he agreed on a price a little too easy. That was unsettling so I then asked him for a screenshot of his paypal account (to provide that he was paypal verified). Initially, all I got were tiny photo's that were unreadable even when enlarged. After several attempts to send me a screenshot, I eventually got a legible screenshot photograph and I then stored on my laptop. He was paypal verified.
I asked Marco to provide me actual photo's of the watch (as the photo's were deleted via the above sales post) as I wanted to see photo's of the item again prior to me paying for it. Here are the three links to photo's he sent me via his photobucket site.

I then made a paypal payment and although protected via paypal, I made sure I was protected even more by making my paypal payment via my credit card.
I obviously kept all my emails. Information includes the agreed price, shipping information and the delay in the actual item being shipped.
There was a delay in Marco shipping the watch. As a result of this, I started to receive emails (via the same email address) from the seller's wife explaining that her husband was in hospital. It was my perception that all emails via his supposed wife were from the same person (based on the identical broken English and the same way they initiate and sign off emails etc).
The package arrived and was signed for. The package was checked and it had not been tampered with. I carefully opened by myself with a sharp craft knife. I opened the package in front of my wife. Once opened, there was an onyx egg within the box instead of the Heuer watch that I had paid for. I was slightly upset.
The package was weighed by the shipping carrier when Marco sent the package and the weight was noted on the shipping label. It stated that the package was 183 grams. I then weighed the package with the stone egg and it was 183 grams on my digital scales. I retained all packaging in case paypal wanted me to send it to them. It was my opinion that the package had not been tampered with while in the mailing system. There were no signs on the item having being opened then resealed as an example. This was fairly obvious as the package weight was the same when posted and on arrival at it's destination.
I got an email from paypal today who had decided in my favour. It feels good!!
