I would like to say that i had no intention of putting your new watch down in anyway whats so ever . But because i was in a hurry that day my answer most probably seemed very abrupt and dismissive to you . I would like to apoligize to you if you felt this was the case . I would also like to answer your question again but in more depth .
The caliber in your watch is maybe the best caliber that ETA have ever made . It is inside watches like Omega- Brietling- Ball- Longines- etc etc . It is a true workhorse of the watch industry and one of the best calibers ever made . It is reliable and very accurate . The finish is not so important on these calibers . They are made in the millions and are one of the most used calibers on earth . If watches have see through backs they are usually polished on the visible side . Some brands rework them to a higher standard of finish , but most including Oris do not .
Many brands including Ball- Longines- Brietling - Omega- Oris etc etc have a high sales price from new but tend to lose a big chunk of their value as used . This is also common as there are very few brands that can keep their value compaired to the new prices . But certain brands tend to lose much more compaired to the new price . And Oris like Brietling- Longines- Ball and hundreds of other brands fit into this catagory . So therefore it is always best if you can to buy these brands used .
Resale is also a problem for certain brands . It is not because they make lousy watches , it is because they are taking to much money for them in the first place . And the used dealers prefere watches they can sell quickly . And they want watches that the public know about . Even a brand like IWC can have problems compaired to say a Rolex . Dealers like safe easy to sell watches . And the used watch market is very very hard on some brands and Oris is one of them . But it depends where you sell it . Your watch will be easier to sell in Denmark to a dealer than say in Germany . But you must expect it will take you longer to sell a Oris than say an Omega . This is a fact of life and sometimes it is just not fair . Because we cannot all wear a Rolex or Patek , and other new brands deserve a chance . But there are certain realitys in the watch world that are nice to know for a newcomer , before they buy a watch .
