Blancpain - willy - 23-08-2022

I just got myself a watch i have admired from afar for at least fifty years. And
considering the fact that i have owned over 300 watches,i have to ask myself,
why did i wait so long.Because maybe if i had bought it many years ago i would
never have bought so many other watches.
In the last couple of years i have bought the Rolex dweller red,Glasshutte Sea Q date,
Panerai 233,and Lang thin.I doubt very much i would have done this if i had seen
this watch IRL first.
It is without a doubt the most beautiful watch i have seen for
many years.Ok beauty is always in the eye of the beholder,as the saying goes.
But the quality of this watch is undeniable,in fact it makes everything i have
seen before look second class. To say i was shocked is a understatment.
The watch is the Blancpain fifty fathoms blue dial titanium model.
There are loads of reviews of this watch on youtube,so i will not bore you
with to many details.I can just give you my personal feeling about it.

The dial is the most beautiful blue i have ever seen on
any watch. The way it catches the light is quite incredible, and the bezel is
truly a work of art.I have seen macro shots of this dial and only Grand Seiko
get close to it.The case is in brushed titanium, but not sideways brushed.
Blancpain took the hard way and brushed downwards instead. The result is
awesome to look at.I like the 120 hours power reserve, and the finishing
on the caliber, not Lange standard but really exceptional even compaired
to other high end brands.

Its a big watch 45 mm,but it wears well on my wrist,i just
wish it came with a deployment and not a buckle. The sail cloth strap is
very comfortable, but i feel Blancpain are cutting corners here, when they
are up against Rolex who show how a bracelet should be made.
It is by no way a discrete watch to wear,it stands very proud on the wrist.
But at the same time it just shines and even people who know nothing
about watches can see the quality and beauty in it,and that is quite rare
in my opinion. Most of the time they think i am crazy for paying so much
for a wristwatch  Icon_smil
The FF i always admired was the SS model, and
i still do.It is a beautiful thing, and in my opinion the most beautiful
dive watch ever made. This model is more a tribute to the old,and i
think it does it well. But the dial on this one has to be seen in real
life, because no picture could ever do it justice.
I love the history of this watch, because it is the
true father of all dive watches that came after it,and i include Rolex
here.Would i go diving with this watch on my wrist? No bloody way Icon_smil
But i could say the same about any modern Rolex or Grand Seiko.
You would have to have tons of money to take this or any other watch
in the same price class underwater and risk the damage. It is just a
homage to the past like nearly all high priced dive watches today.
I will put a few links to youtube below for those who want a more
detailed review.

RE: Blancpain - doxa300 - 24-08-2022

Tillykke

I prefer a deployment on any expensive watch because there is a lesser chance
of dropping it when putting on or taking the watch off.The rem is very comfortable but i prefer
leather against sailcloth.I have been admiring your collection, you have bloody good taste Icon_smil

You are right,in the past i would not be so protective with my watches. But i
get older and now see no reason to get them scatched or marked,i use my
Ecco drive watches for that.I think depoyant is the more correct word Icon_smil
Am going to call Klarlund to see what a depoyant and leather strap will
cost me,i bet it is not cheap.Blancpain have used a 0.9 Hex screw to
hold the strap, and they do not supply the tool to change straps!
Bad service in my opinion, forcing most to go to a dealer for a simple
strap change.I have ordered a tool but it was not easy to find.

RE: Blancpain - doxa300 - 25-08-2022

Willy du skulle bare have købt 2 stk Wera 2054 0.9.
https://www.ebay.de/itm/302098047598?epid=1304203004&hash=item465672626e:g:Bd4AAOSwAANY70fA&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4PI9uAgt7uGJKCWNrELFLJ%2F%2B6i17kzZUTJ6AK55bHte2aHHR8%2FFk2PgpgifvjEnc8KOgec%2BifUmQQpWojObhEVwqFv0ukMOIXkcVFfDybbY0jUfz3L0DluMR%2F4J78RWzld4wN9nrmBnPdAjpHGN6jnVCLlyBuRgN1TDiii2nugfJ%2B2dVRIgqCyPYohcUsS2VAVyZhh9YdDiwAtutkWEkSCqj%2BtROfJci7ll6wMsudOjmRV%2F%2Fum7DTaOov63S2UpwGLeoQKrcqFYK%2FttpFflyDmUcHZuYaK11PpqRYUf6APQa%7Ctkp%3ABFBMgtvZntpg
https://viscontimilano.com/product-tag/blancpain-fifty-fathoms/regular-wrist-size/
Enjoy
