brand of the week Anonimo - willy - 02-07-2012
This brand was founded in 1997 by Federico Massacesi . When Panerai moved the production
of their watches from Florence in Italy to the swiss alps , they left behind a lot of craftsmen who found themselvs out of work . These were the same people who you could say made Panerai what they are today . But Mr Massacesi had an idea how he could use these craftsmen to create a new watch brand .
The thing that makes Anonimo watches special and that has given them many fans around the world is the unique way they make their watch cases . Their watch cases are not stamped out or heated like conventional cases . They have a remarkable System invented by a father and son team , who have developed a method of scouping the metal out of a case without heating it . This method does not change the molecule structure of the steel and gives stronger cases .
They have also developed a method of waterproofing their leather watch straps . You can use them for diving in salt or freshwater . They soak the leather in a special solution of mixed oils and chemicals , also invented by them .
They use ETA quality calibers that are modified and finished to a high standard in their watches .
I really like this brand because there is quite a bit of handwork involved in the making of their watches . And i like their some what conservative styling . Their watches are made to be used not just looked at like many other brands . And i think you get a awfull lot of quality for the money if you buy used . I will own one sooner or later . Et rigtigt spændende ur som desværre aldrig har slået igennem her i Danmark, men med den nye importør Lars Frithiof tror jeg det kan lykkedes da Lars er meget dedikeret i hvad han laver, mange kender sikkert de centrale støvsuger anlæg som sidder i mange Danske hjem og som blev meget populære for 10-15 år siden, de kommer stort set alle fra Lars gamle firma som han solgte til Nilfisk for nogle år siden, så hvis han beholder samme iver og kampgejst som dengang skal han nok få Anonimo op og stå her i landet også.
Et lille koriosum, Anonimo betyder jo anonym på Italiensk og når man er anonym skriver man selvfølgeligt ikke urets navn på urskiven, men sætter det diskret på bagkassen
- Men logoet ses tydeligt og også på spændet, selvfølgeligt på ydersiden, for på bagsiden af spændet står der jo Anonimo.

I just like to learn , and when i read people like Baun or Mads - Tio-Joepete etc etc talking about the brands they love , believe me i learn a lot . Its nice to be able to pick other peoples brains , and you can be sure that i will pick yours when i can

Jeg tror desværre aldrig at Anonimo bliver populært i Danmark, uanset ny importør eller ej.

Jeg har den dybeste respekt for den store viden der er herinde omkring ure, og glædes over at være en lille del af dette fælleskab.

Ærgeligt, da det er et fedt mærke....
Det er et fedt mærke, men tror du den manglende interesse skyldes at det ligger sig tæt op af Panerai ?.

It is not allowed to make personal remarks about anyone on this site . Myself and Baun often disagree on this site , but i respect him for his love and knowledge of watches . I am sure your remark was not meant in a bad way , but it could be interpreted to be so .
