Thank you, Joseph. This Alpinist is a part of my small, but rather unusual collection of vintage Seiko watches. here are the case back and movement of the Alpinist (I also have a second generation example with a particularly nice case back, also pictured below).

Your Seiko Alpinist collection is very interisting and I think that You have landed some very well kept examples Icon_cool

I find several things interesting about the watches and I like the way that the Alpinist line is trying to implement the nature element into the dial and markers. Also, it is interesting that both Laurel, Champion and Alpinist is "mixed together" in these early models. Very early example of screw on caseback shows the innovation of Seiko with this line, and finally, the Alpinist´s were produced in very limited numbers - the production number is only 5 digits Icon_e_smile

I hope to be seing some more of Your lovely Seiko´s, and I hope that You will do some writing on them on the forum as well Icon_e_wink

I agree with you completely about the natural design elements used by Seiko in the early Alpinist models. That is one of the reasons that I was so attracted to them. In fact, to my eye, many of the early Seikos are examples of excellent, minimalist design. I have, for example, a rare seven jewel Seiko that was on the lower end of their model line, yet it is quite beautiful in its simplicity. I will show that one on another thread when I have taken some good photos.

I'm not surprised, but glad to see that your english is excellent. Unfortunately, I am a typical American (though only in this regard!), and have never mastered another language.
