RE: Rolex 2020 - willy - 05-09-2020 Lets not blame Rolex for all our woes. The fact is that they have a history of making the most robust wrist watches on the planet.Their reliability is second to none, and that includes any high end brand you can name. Some people with limited knowledge of watch history might look down on them as being the common mans idea of the best watch in the world. When the fact is that many so called high end brands do not even come close to the quality build of a Rolex. This kind of inverted snobbery gets my goat. The case work of any Rolex is admired throughout the watch industry and Patek or Lang cannot do it better. In fact Rolex most probably build the best cases and bracelets on the planet. The calibers are made to be robust and easy to service, many so called high end brands could learn something here. The Patek nautilus, or AP Royal Oak are just the same as a Rolex Sub.Constant development of a very old design. But i would wager Rolex have made more changes to the Sub over time, than have been made to the Oak or Nautilus.People tend to blame Rolex for being so popular, when they should be blaming the collectors who tend to worship certain brands and put them on a pedestal.Rolex got where they are by making some of the greatest watches ever, and i put them up there with any High end brand you can name. Rolex just do what Patek-Lange-AP or any brand would do when demand is high, its called good business.Increasing production would just give a short term benefit for Rolex and it would destroy the long term demand. And who knows it could lead to a fall in quality. There is a reason why some of the greatest watchmakers in the world have a Rolex on their wrist |
