Mikromærker - diver - Marklund - 12-08-2013
Hejsa,
Er begyndt at sidde og kigge efter diverse mikromærker (skriver jeg, uden helt at kende definationene på et "mikromærke"), da jeg leder efter en diver.
Kunne man få nogle bud her fra forummet?

Ud fra de mærker du nævner, har jeg kun erfaring med Marcello. Det er ure i en fin kvalitet til prisen. Mener firmaet blev grundlagt i 93, så de har da et par år på bagen. De er også kendt for at yde en fin service og har eget værksted. De har hidtil brugt eta værker, men er vist så småt ved at gå over til Sellita.

Jeg er kæmpe fan af mikromærke-ure... Langt de fleste ure fra de forskellige mikromærker er i en knivskarp kvalitet og giver ubeskriveligt meget valuta for pengene!

Most micro brands are produced in the same factorys . They are not really watch brands at all , because everything is built out of house . Its all about marketing and sales bullshit . Anyone can create a watch brand today , and they do not need a factory to do it . They use simple calibers that are produced in the millions . These huge factorys make any watch design you can dream up , for a very very low price . So the mark up on these watches is unbelievable . One factory in Hong Kong make many of the micro brands mentioned in this site .
This type of Watch is fairly reliable , and can last you for years . But do not think you are getting value for money when you buy one . They are sold for ten times the cost of making them . I rate them out for a watchmaking viewpoint to be in a lower class than say a Casio or Festina .
I know you should not just buy watches because of the resale value . But 99% of these brands are bloody near impossible to sell again . Because if you are watch dealer , you know what they are worth . But some watch dealers , who sell micro brands will always tell you a lot of bullshit from the sales brochure about how good they are . Sometimes you will only learn the truth , when you try to sell your watch to a dealer who sells quality and not quantity . But of course they will do a deal for your watch , if you buy another micro brand watch .
Just bear in mind these brands are experts in marketing , but not making watches .

And fairly expensive watches such as Rolex etc. are NOT sold for ten times the production costs???
Which brand gives most value for money are very subjective, because what is valuable for me isn't necessarily valuable for you and vice verca.
It is my belief that many of the micro brands are great bang for the buck. Solid entry level mechanical movements with many years in the bag to proof their reliability, nice designs, good materials, and decent finish and quality assurance. What is not to like?

All new watches are overpriced . It depends on what you want . But most micro brands are not value for the buck . They are use and throw away watches , with nothing to do with good watchmaking . You make a shiny case on a CT machine , and stick a cheap run of the mill caliber in it . That is whats not to like . Willy

I have several micro brand watches in my collection and they are all fabulous watches (in every aspect) at extremely fair prices!

So high resale price is what defines good value for money for you? That is important, but for me not the only contributor to the "good bang for the buck" stamp.
Most of the micro brands uses ETA 2824-2 or Sellita SW200 movements. Not highend, but they are decent and reliable, and more importantly widely servicable. Not anything I would personally just throw away if it stopped keeping good time.

They are not fabulous watches at all . Fabulous is a Lange or Patek . They are mass produced design watches , that most dealers would not touch with a barge pole . Because in the end they will only be worth the metal they are made of .
Actually micro brands are not so much different from a few famous brands i could name . They make a nice case stick a caliber costing about 80-90 kr. in it , and try to sell it as watchmaking art . The truth is that no new watches are value for money . But at least you can sell some of them again . People have a right to hear the other side of the record . Who they believe is up to them
