A watch is just something mechanical with moving parts,just like a car.Oil keeps the parts running smoothly,and i change the oil in my car two times every year.I would not dream of letting any watch of mine go more than 5 years without a service.Oil loses its lubrication capacity with age.Why risk destroying or wearing out the parts of a watch,just to save a little money on a service?Everything mechanical needs to be looked after.Those who do not do care about this,just give problems to the people who buy their watches.You would not buy a car where the oil was not changed,and i feel the same about watches.I hear all these fantastic and many true stories about watches that run for 20-30 years without a service.This can happen,but not many talk about what the watch looks like inside after treatment like this.I will never understand people who buy watches costing thousands of kroner,and then try to save money on looking after them.
