Compairing watch brands or watches

How do you compair one watch with another or brands against one another.I think watches and brands are just like everything else in this world.We hold things up against one another before we buy.My opinion is that in general price and quality go hand in hand.There are of course a few exceptions to this but i do not think there are many.A watch that costs 40000 is maybe not two times better than a watch that costs 20000 but generaly the 40000 watch is better.Of course we have Brands who spend more on marketing their watches than they use making them.Brand name is important like it or not it has a huge influence on resale value.When i hear a blogger compairing his 10000 watch with a well known brand that costs 40000 i for one find there is no comparison.If the brand made a 40000 watch and sold it for 10000 they would be mad.All brands make watches now and again that can be unreliable with manufacturing mistakes.Even high end brands like Patek-AP-etc have made watches that were full of mistakes.Just like a Rolls Royce have made models dealers keep away from.But in general when you buy a watch from a well known brand like PP-AP-Lange-Rolex-JLC-IWC etc etc you get tradition and years of watch making know how in a watch from top brands.Of course you pay for the name but they have a reputation to keep and that equals it out for me.If they lose the reputation for making good watches they can find it impossible to win it back again.If i can put it simply i know the difference between a watch that has a ETA standard caliber in it and a watch that is made by a top brand do you?
And i would like to point out that i am in no way criticizing ETA or watches that do not cost 40000 i have owned many and will do so again.Some people say why compair watchs against one another i say that is why we have watch bloggs all over the world.We compair nearly everything we buy in our lifetime why should watches be the exception to the rule Willy
