This famous brand has the biggest turnover in the Richemont Group that own IWC-JLC-Lange etc.Started in 1907 Cartier became the most famous jewelry company in the world. They made their first pocket watches in 1853 and their first wristwatch in 1911 called the Santos.Their most famous watch is without a doubt the Tank this watch is a classic from 1930 that is still made and selling well today. In the start of Cartier watches they had a exclusive agreement with JLC who supplied them with their calibers. They have usually always worked together with other companys and out scourced most of their calibers.Today since Richemonts take over of the Roger Dubuis group Cartier make some of their own calibers in the Roger Dubuis factory. Most of their bread and butter calibers are still ETA based at this time but they will in the future become a true inhouse caliber manufacturer.I think that when you buy most Cartier watches you are paying most of the money for the case strap or bracelet.Their workmanship is superb but only the top models have the calibers worth collecting.Used dealers know this so there is a big write off in the used prices of lower price end watches.I think many of their watches are beautiful dress watches and yes i could think about buying one if the price was right..
