Hand Made or Not

How much of a watch is really hand made today and does it really matter.After all robots are more precise than people.It would be intresting to read a few opinions on this site.I for one do not like to pay a lot of money for a watch that is just spit out of the production belt.I know you pay a awfull lot of money for a hand finished watch where a real watchmaker is involved.And that the machine built watch functions maybe just as well.But for me it is all about human skill and workmanship.This is in my opinion the thing that gives a watch its soul and that no two watches are exactly the same.I used to work as a porcelain painter at the Royal Copenhagen factory.No two pieces are the same.I like this in watches as well.For me a watch from say Lange -AP -PP-JLC and other brands in this range involves still today a lot of handwork.I like a lot of other watches even if they have a bog standard ETA or other calibers that are spit out of the line in the millions.But for me they have got nothing to do with real watchmaking and they have nothing to offer.I would be just as happy with a production line watch if it had a quartz caliber.
