How do you buy a new or used watch?

There are experienced watch buyers and inexperienced buyers.Lets have some ideas and guide lines we can give to new watch buyers who visit this site.And maybe new ideas to us all.And maybe in the future Kim could point the finger to this topic to new beginners on our site.So new and old members lets have a few tips on what to look for when buying a new or used watch.
MY TIPS
Box & papers original to watch
Keep cardboard box original packing if possible
Remember to ask when watch was last serviced if used .Service cost is important to the price you pay for a used watch.Some brands cost a lot to service check this before you buy the watch.
If the watch has been a window display watch ask for a discount it works sometimes.
Check the watch for marks or scratches do this on new and used watches you will be supprised how many new watches have marks on them.Ask for price reduction if you find any.
Take your time try the watch on study it do not make snap decisions go for a walk think about it the seller will keep the watch for you while you contemplate.
Research the watch you intend to buy.Visit as many watch sites as possible read all the reviews you can about the watch.Find out what the resale value is and visit sites with watches for sale and get a general idea of the price of the watch before you buy.
If you can always buy from a recomended dealer.
If you can always ask advice from someone who knows about the watch brand you intend to buy.
If in doubt ask the seller to give you a written guarantee you can return the watch if you find fault with it.
Get the watch checked by a watchmaker after you get it.
Expect some marks on all used watches but deep hacks in the case are not good.They cannot be polished out and will afect the resale value of your watch.
Check the function of the watch winding-bezal.strap adjustment etc.

Synes du har dækket det ganske grundigt Willy.

Jeg har indtil videre kun købt af ur forretninger eller personer som jeg har kunne få en reference på, dvs enten via nogle som havde handlet med dem som jeg har kunne få en reference fra, eller via good/bad guy links.

Inden jeg køber et ur har jeg fulgt med i prisudviklingen/markedspriserne over en tid så jeg har et billede af om prisen er korrekt i forhold til stand, alder, B/P eller ikke m.m
